It was such a thrilling experience to know that I was going to be able to visit Hannah Mulungi, the little girl that I sponsor in Uganda. I know that I was blessed with this opportunity that is rarely fulfilled by anyone that is helping others in a third world country.
When I entered her humble home with the Starfish team we were greeted warmly by her mother. Hannah and her younger sister were very quiet and looked wide-eyed. When staples were provided by the team, the mother beamed with complete enthusiasm saying “It is ours, it is ours”! She shared the items with her children and had them recite to us with pride, in English, the five senses. We gave the children wonderful little pillow case dresses that were made by volunteers.
When we left, I couldn’t wait until I would see Hannah again at the Starfish camp. It was my deepest wish to get to know her so she would feel more comfortable with me and we could begin our relationship. I am very happy to know she will now have a chance to go to school and have a better life and a better future. I look forward to corresponding with her and her mother to see how she is progressing.
