Child Sponsors
Our children are like the starfish that are washed ashore yet are fortunate enough to have someone help them back into the sea so they can continue to grow and thrive. We know we can’t help everyone that needs it, but we can make a difference one-by-one for those we can.
HOW101 Sponsors are special people who agree to walk-along with their selected child potentially from nursery school through high school. Some will continue to provide support through university or specialized training.
Sponsors pay a monthly fee which goes into an account for that child’s education. HOW101 reserves all these funds for the children. We fundraise separately to raise the funds needed to cover our management expenses.
Letters and Photos
We also ask that our sponsors keep their child in their prayers and send encouraging letters and photos twice a year. Once in the Spring when the children have school holidays and gather for camp and then again at Christmas. The children will either write back (if old enough) or send a video.
Basic Necessity Funds
Extra donations are also requested before Camp and at Christmas. These are used for basic necessities which are personal items that are needed on a regular basis. Backpacks, shoes, coats, bedding, are a few examples. At Christmas, the children’s families receive food and other supplies. We collect the Basic Necessities funds separately for tracking purposes and because we open this fund up to others so that we can ensure that every child receives these extra gifts.
Sponsor Updates
HOW101 is based in Aurora, Colorado as are many of our sponsors. We periodically have sponsor gatherings where sponsors get a chance to learn about all the wonderful things happening with the program.
Sponsors also can be part of private FaceBook groups that share photos and updates.
Trips for Camp
We do go to Uganda and Kenya each year during the children’s school breaks. This is usually in late April or May. If interested, sponsors may go on these trips. Dates, plans and costs for the trips are usually determined in January. To learn more about the trips please email us at how101.org@gmail.com.
How Do I Become a Sponsor?

We take the lives of these young children and youth seriously and although there are always children in need of sponsors, we will never post their information on our website.
A commitment must be made by you, and we require either an annual or monthly online payment. A HOW101 representative will speak to you on the phone to explain the process and answer any questions you may have.
